When I first saw them I started to cry cry, but luckily I stopped myself before my liquid liner cat eyes turned me all Tammy Faye Baker for the party. #pullittogetherwoman
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all the good people at Urban Outfitters who made this party and polish happen!

Class 4 SHUT IT DOWN! Literally, they polished up til they shut the store down.
I can’t tell you how awesome it felt to be surrounded by ladies and gentlemen (yes, there were a couple :)) who love nail art as much as I do. Finally, after all those years in school of being misunderstood, I have found my people!
And I saw some amazing personal artwork. If you look close, you’ll spot some nail art superstars in the crowd. So, needless to say, I was really inspired by the people that turned up and turned this tutorial out! Big thanks to all the lovely folks who participated!
And a special thanks to Anna from Mani-Fest Destiny for not only killing it in class, but for helping me schlep all the supplies up the stairs, back to my apt. You’re the bestest, buddy!
Here I am, doing Nom Nom Watermelon Nail Art class number 3 of 4 at the Urban Outfitters nail party.
Special thanks to Darlene from Howcast.com (purveyors of a fine nail art tutorial ;)) for snapping this shot!
You know it’s a party when Samantha and I have got our bows on! She did a crazy cool set up of the polishes. This is her display in action shot, making the magic happen. You can follow her on instagram at: uonewyork
Tumblr is serious business… or so my face in this picture seems to think. Such a dork!
Artist Dima Drjuchin— the man, the myth, the legend behind my logo— snapped this photo at my Urban Outfitters nail party. Follow him here.
Turquoise Stone
I originally created this veined, shimmery, semiprecious nail as a red carpet look for one of my besties because as the hippies promise:
“If given a turquoise by a loving friend, that stone would protect the wearer from negative energy and bring good fortune. The turquoise is the symbol of friendship. It also brings peace to the home.”
Gotta love those kinda powers! So, I put this on my paws for my Urban Outfitters nail party and bam, I made so many awesome polish-loving pals that day! More pics to come….

Nom Nom Watermelon Nails!
Here’s my cheat sheet for the watermelon look I’ll be teaching at Urban Outfitters in New York City today. Hope to see you there! If not, you can follow along on the intertubes. You know I gotcha back, gurl (from another part of the world).
Step 1: Apply base coat and two coats of “Pardon My French” pink.
Step 2: Paint a layer of polish onto a corner of a soft make up sponge. Then, dab on the neon pink polish from the cuticle to just shy of 2/3rds up your nail. Then, from the tip down about 1/4 of the way, dab on the white polish. Be sure to leave a little strip of light pink peaking out!
*Note: You don’t want it to be gloopy on the sponge, it’s better to play conservative here and get a very thin layer on the nail that you can keep adding to then too much wet polish.
Step 3: Using “Happy Hunter” apply a thick French tip.
Step 4: With the neon green striper, line the edge of the French tip so it stands out a little, thin and bright on the white. Then add a few random, short lines to the dark green to look like a rind.
Step 5: Paint where you want to apply studs with top coat or a nail art sealer on the nail. Then, paint the tip of an orange stick with a thin coat of top coat. Next, pick up a stud with your orange stick and place it in the desired spot on your nail. Continue studding them up ‘til your satisfied. Then, seal the studs again with the nail art sealer.
*Note: You can substitute the studs for a black nail art striper. Simply paint on the seeds by pressing the brush tip down gently.
Step 6: Apply top coat. And then, try very hard to resist the urge to bite your delicious looking nails!
