Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan Spring 2014 + Miss Pop + Ciate
It was a punk rock garden party at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center! Here’s a little bit about the nail looks and their inspiration.
GARDEN CATWALK: This nail is an abstraction of the models walking down the NYFW runway in their spring floral Emerson gowns— a row of colorful frocks blazing a path through the deep purple darkness of the excited, assembled crowd. Between the multi-color streaks are little gaps to show small peaks of the natural nail, a nod to the trend I’m still obsessed with.
STRIPES & SAFETY PINS: The edgy stripes are a swatch match to one of my favorite fabrics in the Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan Spring 2014 collection. I’m a sucker for stripes— especially a totally twisted version in black and white! To up the rock vibe of the nails, I added a matte top coat and pierced each middle finger with the accessory where punk and fashion meet, a safety pin.
FIELD OF ALLIUM FLORAL PRINT: What’s more spring than a clear blue sky over a field of fluffy purple flowers? I wanted to bring a glimpse of the garden that inspired this collection by Emerson designer Jackie Fraser-Swan, namely her favorite flower— the lush allium, to the nails.
It such a pleasure to work for a designer who loves nail art and lets me run wild! Which look is your favorite?
